Clever Bedroom Storage You Can Hide Away
Share
In a compact Maltese bedroom, every bit of space counts. These ideas turn overlooked corners, walls and even ceilings into proper storage, all while staying tidy and out of sight when you want it that way.
Make use of the space above your bed
If your bedroom floor and wardrobe are full, look up. Mounting a pair of MULIG clothes bars onto the ceiling above the bed creates a surprising amount of extra hanging space, perfect for rotating seasonal clothes or spare linen in a small flat or maisonette. Hang a length of fabric from two curtain wires in front of it and the whole arrangement disappears behind a soft canopy, giving the bed a cosy, finished look. Just make sure everything is fixed securely into the ceiling before loading it up, since safety matters more than storage.

Keep small things close with bedside pockets
MÖJLIGHET bed pockets hang along the side of the bed and double as a soft, decorative trim while holding all those small items that otherwise end up lost in a drawer. Socks, chargers, reading glasses or a pair of suspenders all have a place within arm's reach. Sorting the pockets by colour, by activity or even by day of the week makes mornings easier, especially in a shared bedroom where surfaces fill up fast. It is a neat solution for townhouses and apartments alike, where bedside tables tend to be on the small side.

A clever fix for curtains that run too long
Long curtain fabric is often seen as a problem, but it can become a useful feature instead. If a curtain panel is longer than needed, cut off the extra length and stitch it back higher up the curtain to form a row of pockets. The result is a practical storage strip that sits neatly against the wall, ideal for brushes, a spare pair of slippers or small styling accessories near a mirror. It suits the kind of compact dressing corner found in many Maltese bedrooms, where a dedicated unit simply is not practical.

Turn off-season textiles into soft storage
Malta's long, warm summers and milder winters mean wardrobes are often juggling two very different sets of clothing and bedding. Rather than squeezing unused items into already full drawers, stuff empty cushion covers with jackets, blankets or spare throws that are waiting for cooler or warmer weather. The filled cushions can sit openly on a bed or armchair, doubling as soft furnishings while quietly keeping bulky textiles out of the way until the season turns.
Small bedrooms across Malta and Gozo often just need a change of perspective. Maltashopper can arrange delivery to your home once you have chosen the pieces that suit your space.
