Solo Gaming Nights Done Right

Solo Gaming Nights Done Right

Long gaming sessions deserve good food and a comfortable setup. Whether it is a quiet evening in a Sliema apartment or a weekend marathon in a Gozo townhouse, a few well-chosen pieces make solo dining at your desk feel like a proper occasion rather than an afterthought.

Keep your favourite snacks within arm's reach

Stepping away from the screen mid-game is never ideal, so bring the food to you instead. IKEA's KUNGSFORS kitchen trolley is built to be loaded up and wheeled wherever you need it, whether that is beside a gaming chair or tucked next to a home office desk. Fill it with sandwiches, fruit and a few treats before you settle in, and you have got hours of good eating sorted without a single trip to the kitchen. In compact Maltese flats where space is at a premium, a trolley like this also doubles as extra storage once the gaming session is over.

Set up a desk that works as hard as you do

A proper gaming corner needs a surface that can handle a screen, a keyboard and whatever else you bring to the setup. IKEA's KALLAX desk pairs neatly with matching shelving, giving you a tidy spot for books, controllers or decor alongside your monitor. It suits the kind of compact bedroom or study found in many Maltese townhouses and maisonettes, where a dedicated gaming room is a luxury but a well-organised corner is entirely achievable. Add a poster or print behind it, and the space starts to feel like your own, even when it shares a room with other furniture.

Dine without ever leaving your seat

Eating alone is no reason to eat badly, and a few small additions make it feel intentional rather than rushed. Use the setup to enjoy a proper plate at your favourite seat, with everything arranged exactly how you like it. A tray designed for sitting comfortably in an armchair or on the sofa means you can bring your chosen dish to wherever you are most relaxed, rather than balancing plates on your knees. It is a small habit that turns an ordinary evening in front of the screen into something closer to a treat you have planned for yourself.
