Small Balcony, Big Storage: Making the Most of Outdoor Space

Small Balcony, Big Storage: Making the Most of Outdoor Space

Balconies in Maltese homes are often compact, yet they can still handle laundry duties, hobby gear and a spot to unwind. With the right mix of boxes, hooks and fold-away furniture, every corner earns its keep.

Washing on the balcony does not have to look messy. A SUNDSÖ cabinet gives you a lockable spot for anything flammable or toxic, keeping it well away from children and pets. Nearby, hang up a few bits for quick fixes and touch-ups, from sewing kits to lint rollers, so mending clothes never means a trip indoors.

For everything else, sturdy waterproof boxes such as the UPPDATERA box or the NÄMMARÖ storage box keep pegs, detergents and spare linens dry through Malta's humid spells. A JÄLL drying rack or a MULIG drying rack folds flat against the wall when not needed, which beats running a tumble dryer in the summer heat and frees up floor space for everything else.
