Soft Pastels and Natural Tones for Your Home

October 6, 2026

A gentle colour story built around muted pastels and natural textures, perfect for bringing a calm, well-travelled feel into a Maltese home. Here is how to layer colour and material into even the smallest room without it feeling cluttered.

Building a Calm Palette With Soft Colour

Start with the small details that set the tone of a room. The KARMSUND table mirror brings a soft, rounded shape to a chest of drawers or console, while the FÄRGKLAR bowl adds a muted pastel touch to a shelf or kitchen counter. In a bathroom, the ALSTERN bath mat softens tiled floors underfoot, a welcome comfort during Malta's warmer months when bare feet touch cool tiles more often.

Layering matters as much as colour choice. The BURVIK side table offers a natural wood tone that grounds a pastel scheme, and a TAVELÅN tray gathers everyday items neatly on top of it. For bathrooms needing a practical upgrade, the OPPEJEN shower door keeps things tidy in compact Maltese bathrooms, while the UPPDATERA pegboard drawer organiser keeps smaller items sorted without taking up extra space. Finish a window with MOALISA curtains for a soft, diffused light.

Carrying the Look Through Living Spaces

This palette extends naturally into open-plan living and dining areas, common in many apartments and townhouses across Malta and Gozo. The VILTO shelving unit offers an airy, open structure for displaying books and plants without visually closing in a small room. Add a GRADVIS plant pot to bring in some greenery, which also helps soften the dry summer air indoors.

Small functional pieces complete the scheme. The EKOLN soap dispenser suits a kitchen or bathroom counter with its understated shape, and the TAGGÖGA vacuum flask is handy for keeping drinks cool during long, humid summer days. A HORNAVAN trolley adds flexible storage that can move between rooms as needed, while a GULDFLY cushion cover and the warm glow of the NYMÅNE LED pendant lamp bring the whole look together in the evening.
