Life starts in the kitchen

Long before the table is set, the kitchen is where the day really begins. It gathers homework and half-finished coffees, quick arguments and slow Sunday mornings. Here is how to make yours work harder, for everyone who passes through it.

Life starts in the kitchen

Whatever you're cooking, it starts here

A kitchen is rarely just a kitchen. It is where school bags land, where recipes are argued over, where someone always ends up singing along to the radio slightly off tune. Plans get made at the counter and secrets get shared over the washing up.

Furnish it well and it becomes more than a place to cook. It becomes the room your household actually lives in.

Make meal prep your superpower

We tend to eat what we can see, which is why clear containers make such a difference to how much food actually gets eaten rather than forgotten at the back of the fridge. The IKEA 365+ range is built with this in mind, with containers that stack neatly and seal tightly.

They are also light enough to carry to work without fuss, so last night's dinner becomes tomorrow's lunch. Less waste, less spending on food that never gets eaten, and a fridge that finally makes sense at a glance.

Make kitchen time quality time

Between school runs and shopping lists, it is easy to treat the kitchen as another task to get through. Yet this is often the room where a household spends the most time together, by accident more than design.

Given the right setup, it becomes somewhere children can help without getting in the way, where breakfast can stretch a little longer at the weekend, and where mess is simply part of learning. A kitchen built for real life makes room for all of it, the spills included.
